About
The Bay Area Metal Detecting Directory helps people recover lost jewelry, keys, and other keepsakes by connecting them with volunteer detectorists in the region.
Our Purpose
This is a public directory of Bay Area Metal Detecting Association (BAMDA) members who have experience locating lost items. You can browse listings, filter by region, city, or specialty, and send a message to a detectorist who might be able to help. Whether you dropped a ring at the beach or lost your keys in a park, the Directory is meant to make it easier to find a nearby volunteer metal detectorist in the Bay Area.
How to ask for help
Use the directory to find a detectorist near you, then use the contact form on their profile to describe what was lost, where it happened, and when. Messages go to the detectorist you selected — they are not posted publicly. Recovery metal detecting is volunteer work, so availability varies, and there is no guarantee a search will succeed.
